Tragic Accident Shakes Aviation Industry

Social media has truly changed the world in dramatic ways. Even going back as few years as ten shows a dramatic change in the world. How? The ability of social media to connect the world in ways we could never have envisioned. In today's technology filled world, seconds after an event has occurred it will be on the Internet available to everyone through social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. When Eric Qualman said that social media has revolutionized the world just as the industrial revolution had- he was most definitely spot on. As a way to test this theory I decided to see how much research and facts I could gather on a "hot" story. Flight 9268 which went down over the Sinai peninsula, received lots of press attention and social media attention. The story was everywhere from the front page of Yahoo news to trending stories on Facebook. In less than an hour of the downing the first stories started to hit social media and the Internet. This truly speaks for and shows the power of social media. Really making the world seem much smaller than it is, since we seemly know what's going on around any corner of the world. If this story had come out prior to the social media boom, the story would take days and even then only a small portion of the world would know about it as not everyone reads the paper or watches tv. You can view my article on the tragic accident here. To view more information on how social media changed the world visit here. Some of my sources to my information include Wikipedia, and CNN.
